About This Rug: Beautiful Soumak with fine quality Biljik wool. This Soumak has a mixed weave of kilim and soumak.
About Soumak Rugs: Soumak is a rare type of Kilim. However, geniunely speaking, Soumak is not a Kilim but a different variety in flat-woven textiles. Soumak is embroided (not weaved) and its threads are rather left uncut/stranded at the back. They employ different styles of tribal motifs, predominantly geomatric and bird motifs. Soumaks rugs have high value and are most suitable for comtemporary, modern decor. Soumak rugs in our collection are made of finest-quality Biljik wool (from Belgium) in southern Afghanistan.
